ECO - Filtered Water

ECO reached out to Logoplaste Innovation Lab (iLAB) and asked if they could design a reusable water jug for filtered water, with 6L capacity. The answer was: yes, yes we can.

The brand, ECO- FILTERED WATER, wanted to expand their portfolio and offer different options for filtered water consumption. Having sustainability as their common denominator, ECO wanted a 6L reusable water jug that is refilled in their fountains at Pingo Doce (successful Portuguese supermarket chain).

The briefing received by the lead designer for this project, Carlos Alves, had the following requirements:

  • Reusable container, larger than existing
  • Get ride of the “on the go” concept and reinforce reusable
  • Package can be used in a vertical and horizontal position
  • Horizontal position – package needs to be ready to use, enabling direct pouring into a glass with a special closure system
  • Fit in a home fridge (please note that refrigerators across the world have different sizes, usually smaller than those in the USA)

Carlos came up with an elegant design, that mirrors water’s flow, including a droplet motif to place the package horizontally. The deep cobalt blue helps connecting with water elements, be it lakes, oceans, rivers. It is the brand’s trade mark blue.

We asked Carlos how did he come up with this unique design:

“The entire concept and functional solutions came from the requirements that were in the client's briefing.  However, we managed to create something unique and visually appealing. The drop shape that is present in the ECO brand logo was the central element in defining the form and function of this package.  Everything else revolves around this drop, which is what defines the outer shape of the bottle's profile but also what defines the face that allows the bottle to be placed and kept in a horizontal position for use.”
