It is with immense grief that we announce the passing of our Founder, Marcel de Botton.

Marcel died on April 23, 2022, peacefully in his Cascais home, surrounded by his family.

Anyone who interacted with him has a story to tell, a smile or an attention that they will never forget.

Marcel arrived in Portugal in 1940. For many years, he owned one of the largest plastic factories in the greater Lisbon area. But in 1974, in the aftermath of the Portuguese revolution, things changed dramatically. Marcel was forced to hand over the company but with his “never give-up” attitude, that we carry-on as his legacy, in 1976, he started all over again helped by his son Filipe.

This time around Marcel wanted to do things differently and started dreaming of a totally new business model - small manufacturing plants inside the client’s factories. Logoplaste was born and with its wall to wall model, that has made us who we are today.

In 1994 he was named Commander of the Portuguese industry. He is the founder of Sociedade Ponto Verde, an organization established in 1996, promoting and managing packaging recycling; he is also the founder of APIP (Portuguese national converters plastic association) 1990, and the EuPC (European Plastic converters) in 1994. In 2017 the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) awarded Logoplaste’s Founder with the prestigious “Lifetime Achievement Award” at their annual conference in Chicago.

Showing an unparallel vision he decided, back in 1991, to dedicate all his time to pro bono activities to create a better and more sustainable world, asking Filipe to take over the management of Logoplaste.

His commitment to the company he founded and its team was absolute, bringing out the very best in every person. He had a passion for excellence and his devotion to client satisfaction was exactly the same as his engagement to the environmental causes.

The quote from Booker T. Washington applies to Marcel:

“The older I grow, the more I am convinced that there is no education which one can get from books and costly apparatus that is equal to that which can be gotten from contact with great men and women.”

We are honored to have met him and learned from him. He will be greatly missed.

We remain close to the de Botton family in these moments of sadness.
