Marcel de Botton Sustainability Awards

Inspiring, recognizing, and rewarding Logoplaste plants at the forefront of sustainability

Two awards in honor of the man who started it all

The Marcel de Botton awards recognize Logoplaste plants with two awards for the best and the most improved sustainability. Winners receive a 25,000€ donation to a local non-profit in the community the plant serves.

Both awards are given to plants based on how well they manage key resources, and how well they reduce their CO2 footprint.

The four categories scored are:

  • Raw Material
Minimizing waste during changeovers, recovering materials, integrating recycled plastic content

  • Energy
Reducing energy use, installing solar power generation, sourcing electricity from renewable sources

  • Water
Minimizing water use through treatment and recycling, protecting aquatic environments from plastic contamination

  • Health and safety
Actively protecting the health and safety our employees and our communities

The Performance Award
25,000€ Donation

Recognizing the plant that has the best overall performance across the 4 categories.

The Commitment Award
25,000€ Donation

Recognizing the plant that had the biggest improvement in resources efficiency year-over-year.

Sustainability happens one plant at a time

When our founder, Marcel de Botton, invented wall to wall, embedded manufacturing, he created a more efficient, more sustainable method for producing plastic packaging. He also invented a distributed, resilient manufacturing enterprise with dozens of standalone plants tailored to the needs of our clients.

This one-of-a-kind business model makes our plants ground-zero in our mission to reduce our environmental footprint, reduce waste, and move to sustainable, closed loop manufacturing for plastic packaging.

The Marcel de Botton Awards recognize the best-of-the best Logoplaste plants in honor of the visionary who started Logoplaste and was a major force behind plastic recycling and manufacturing with recycled plastic content.

Recognizing sustainability – the best possible way to honor Marcel de Botton

Marcel de Botton
Logoplaste Founder
1925-2022

When Marcel de Botton started Logoplaste in 1976, he pioneered a new, more sustainable way to manufacture plastic package -embedding Logoplaste plants within our clients’ facilities.

This wall-to-wall approach eliminated shipping bottles from distant factories and enabled highly efficient production that was in synch with the client’s demand.

Over decades of continuous improvement, wall to wall manufacturing has proven its ability to manufacture and deliver plastic packaging more efficiently and with far lower CO2 emissions.

In 1991, Mr. de Botton handed over day-to-day operations at Logoplaste so that he could focus on creating an even more sustainable plastics industry. He founded Sociedade Ponte Verde to promote and manage plastic package recycling, the Portuguese plastic converters association (APIP), and the European plastic converters association (EuPC).

He continued to promote, pursue, and perfect plastic recycling and recycled plastic manufacturing, spending the last three decades of his life pursuing the cause of sustainable plastics.
