Ecoibéria food grade rPET has passed bottle-to-bottle trials at an industrial scale. This final step in closed-loop plastics manufacturing proves Ecoibéria’s ability to produce food grade rPET from post-consumer plastic recycling streams.

The Ecoibéria food grade recycling program is funded in part through an EEA Grants Environment Program initiative titled Project Bottle to Bottle: Top Quality PET for the circular economy of plastic bottles in Portugal.

The grant included funds for an optical flake separator and a state-of-the art analysis laboratory. Rigorous sorting and testing are essential to ensuring the recycled material can be reincorporated into new packaging.

Thanks to EEA Grants investments and Ecoibéria ingenuity, consumer goods manufacturers interested in moving to a 100% recycled, bottle-to-bottle packaging now have a proven, reliable supply of food-grade rPET.
